Fall must haves: The lotions, potions and skincare edition

It’s fall, y’all! Thank god it dropped down to 70 degrees here in NOLA. The summer was brutal and we deserve a break! Pray we stay “cool”. With the change in temperature comes the change in our skincare. I know my skin is much different in the summer vs the winter. I change everything from my foundation to my body lotion. My skin is dryer in the cooler months and requires a little more TLC. So with that said, I thought I would share a few of my fall staples.Check them out and let me know if you’ve used any before. I would love to hear your feedback, so don’t be afraid to share yours below. Ok, let’s get into these products!

Skincare

Right now I’m loving Drunk Elephant's whole line! I was first introduced to them earlier this summer by a great friend of mine who has amazing skin. Pro tip, always trust the chick with the flawless skin and no filter. There’s so many reasons why I love this product but what really caught my eye (besides the cute packaging) was that it’s a clean product! What does that mean? From their site: "Drunk Elephant is committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the skin’s health or support the integrity and effectiveness of our formulations. We never take into account an ingredient’s synthetic or natural status, but instead choose based on biocompatibility. You won’t find what we call the “Suspicious 6” in our products (Essential Oils, Drying Alcohols, Silicones, Chemical Sunscreens, Fragrances/Dyes, SLS) making them, in our opinion, appropriate for all skin."

I’m here for all the juices and berries. My skin is pretty oily and since using their products I no longer look like I dipped my face in crisco. I suggest trying out “The Littles.” It’s a cute little pouch filled with their most popular products. Sample size, of course. This will allow you to try them out before committing to a full size...because they ain’t cheap. My favorites are:

Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser face wash

Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream moisturizer

C-Firma™ Day Serum.

Another Drunk Elephant product I LOVE is their Slaai™ Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser. Y’all, this is the truth. This balm comes in a cute little container with a magnetic spoon attached. The spoon is little but allows you to scoop out the perfect amount. When you apply it to your face (dry) the heat from your hands melts the balm and once water is applied it turns into this buttery goodness that melts your makeup off. This product is definitely one to have if you wear makeup a lot. It doesn’t dry your skin out at all.

Let me jump off Drunk Elephant and introduce you to a new product, REN. I’m new to the REN family and honestly the only product I’ve tried is their Rose O12 Moisture Defense oil. I do however own a few products that I can’t wait to open (I have a problem) so stay tuned. ok, about this oil. I LOVE IT!!! I’ve always been skeptical about oils since my face is oily. I’ve always thought people with my skin type should avoid oil at all cost, but using an oil can help replenish your skin’s natural oils. This can keep oil levels balanced and help avoid breakouts! Not all oils are made equally, so do your research. Even though my new fall favorite says it's for dry skin, I decided to give it a try. I knew I would be using this mostly in the fall when my skin changes, but because I’m impatient I started using it a few months ago. I mainly put it on at night after I wash my face and apply my moisturizer. The oil just sinks into my skin leaving it super moisturized and not greasy at all. Fun fact: Rose oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which is great for people with sensitive skin. Again, if you are looking for a face oil do your research, but this REN has been great for me.

Foundation

I’ve been obsessed with the Bobbi Brown foundation stick since I got it. It’s been my go-to foundation because I get full coverage while not feeling like a clown! It’s super easy to apply and it doesn’t move even in this NOLA heat. It’s definitely one to consider if you’re looking for an easy grab and go foundation.

There is a new foundation I just recently purchased and can’t wait to try. It is SKIN FETISH: SUBLIME PERFECTION FOUNDATION by Pat McGrath. Yes, I went ahead and made the big jump. This foundation is far from cheap and I swear it better make me look like one of those super models. I’m a big fan of Pat’s lipsticks because they don’t move. Real talk, I can apply one coat in the morning and guess what, it’s still on 8 hours later. Not sure what magic formula she’s using but don't change it. I also love her eye shadows because they are highly pigmented and again, last forever. Let's see how this foundation works out for me. Stay tuned.

Scrubs and Lotion

I have sooooooo many lotions and scrubs it's insane. My husband said my side of the bathroom looks like Sephora. He ain't lying. LOL! I get so much stuff sent to me and I’m so grateful for that but some, I don’t use and I give away. The rest I hoard. I’m not going to do a long write up on all the scrubs and lotions I love because we would legit be here all day. So I’ll just list them below.

Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Body Moisturizer

I love this Moisturizer. My skin feels so soft after I apply it. It has a nice light scent. Its definitely a good one to have for the winter months. A little goes a long way.

French Girl Rose Sea Polish

A non-abrasive body polish that leaves your skin soft and moisturized. Sometimes I don’t put lotion on after. It has a slight rose scent, but nothing too overpowering. I promise you will not smell like one of the golden girls!

Harper + Ari Exfoliating Sugar Cubes

Another scrub I love. These cubes smell like candy! Can y’all tell I’m hungry? I love these because one cube will exfoliate the whole body. Make sure you concentrate on the rough areas to regain smoothness.

Well, that’s my crew. I use all of those products daily. Let me know what products are apart of your crew. I’m always looking for something new to try. :-)
